The Clinical Innovators Forum is designed to provide innovators with access to specialist support and advice to help take their technology innovation projects from concept through to commercialisation.
The Event
This virtual event delivered in collaboration with Eastern AHSN has been running since 2017, with over 15 events delivered.
The Clinical Innovators Forum gives attendees the opportunity to practice pitching their innovations, learning from others who have navigated though the innovation pathway, and obtaining mentoring support from subject matter experts.
The event has seen a wide range of new innovations presented, at varying stages of development, including surgical tools, diagnostics, and digital health solutions.
Mentoring Sessions
During the event attendees are provided with one-to-one mentoring sessions from subject matter experts including product design and development engineers, regulatory consultants, governance consultants, health economists, funding experts and patent attorneys.
Over 12 companies have been involved in provided these mentoring sessions which are a great way for innovators to gain expert advice on a range of topics within the same event.
I found everyone brought something different to the table and it was great to hear about what I have to come in the future. Really great day, I really enjoyed it and would 100% recommend.
Outcomes and Impact
This event gives innovators time to identify the strengths and weaknesses of their innovations, practice pitching their ideas and to share experiences with other attendees. The event also enables innovators to build relationships and networks with colleagues and experts in healthcare innovation development to help support and develop their innovative idea.
This event has seen over 90 innovators supported from various organisations including NHS Trusts such as Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust and the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Innovators attending events have gone on to secure grant funding and partners to assist with taking their innovation closer to market.
Companies who have attended include 52 North Health, Charco Neurotech, MediShout and Medwise.ai, all of whom have gone on to raise significant seed funds and develop new commercial partnerships with the programme’s on-going support.
