Health Economist, March 2024

Do you want to play a role in helping Med Tech innovators create ground-breaking solutions to improve healthcare? Health Tech Enterprise is looking to recruit an enthusiastic Health Economist with a genuine desire to work in the medical technologies industry.

As part of the multidisciplinary HTE team, you will assist innovators by helping to identify the key benefits their solutions provide, and develop, economic models for evaluating early-stage medical technologies. The role has a high degree of client engagement. Many of our clients benefit from our wide range of consultancy services, and you will work closely with colleagues in the rest of the HTE team to provide the best possible service to evidence the potential impact of innovative technologies. Your evaluations will inform decisions on the efficient allocation of resources available to healthcare providers and communicate these insights to a variety of stakeholders in the healthcare industry.

Responsibilities

  • Engaging with new clients to assess and advise on health economic modelling solutions
  • Writing proposals based on stakeholder needs
  • Ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to client satisfaction
  • Development of health economic models and costing tools in MS Excel
  • Writing detailed health economic evaluation reports in Word
  • Researching and scrutinising data from published sources for projects and proposals
  • Analysing quantitative and qualitative data
  • Liaising with clients throughout a project

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential:

  • A degree or equivalent in Health Economics or Economics
  • Competent in the use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Advanced skills in Excel and knowledge of VBA are required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to explain complex modelling techniques and results to non-experts
  • Ability to interview and liaise with medical professionals
  • Good planning and organisational skills in time management and prioritising workload to meet specific deadlines
  • A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain client confidentiality

Desirable:

  • Working knowledge of statistical software (e.g., R, STATA, SAS) advantageous
  • Experience of having applied economic and mathematical modelling techniques in an industry or commercial setting
